How the Rune and Key Quests Worked
The Banana Eats Halloween Spotlight quests required 31 hidden pumpkins to earn both the Rune and the Key. Your first 13 pumpkins counted toward both rewards, leaving just 18 more after the Rune. The hunt rewarded exploring different maps instead of repeatedly checking the same collectible spots.
These quests belonged to the October 23–November 3, 2025 event. Banana Eats currently features The Hollow, with a limited-time mystery in Banana’s Basement. The pumpkin objectives and locations below cover the 2025 Spotlight event.
| Reward | Total pumpkins required | Additional skin reward |
|---|---|---|
| Rune | 13 | Baby Dusekkar Pumpkin |
| Key | 31 | Rotten-Deeri Pumpkin |
During the event, players could reach Banana Eats through its portal in Lobby 4 of the Spotlight hub. Inside the game, the event objectives appeared alongside the pumpkin collection counter.
To complete the hunt:
- Collect the pumpkins in the main lobby before entering a round.
- Search the available maps until your total reaches 13 for the Rune.
- Continue collecting toward 31 for the Key. Your first 13 remain part of that total.
Collected pumpkins did not respawn at their locations. Returning to an already-cleared spot would not advance either quest.

Pumpkin Locations to Search
Start with the lobby, then use the map vote to visit areas you still need to search. Pumpkins moved, making them easier to notice among the Halloween decorations.

Main Lobby and Banana Waiting Area
The main lobby contained two pumpkins:
- Behind the VIP Pass board: Check the north side of the lobby.
- Past the green waterfall: Cross the green venom waterfall on the left to reach the central lobby location.
When playing as Banana, check the waiting room for another pumpkin. Search this area when the role comes up rather than overlooking it while waiting for the round.
Peeled High School
Search these rooms and landmarks:
- Art room: Look on top of the table.
- Basketball equipment room: Opposite the art room, follow the basketball racks to the blue locker.
- Stage: Check the center of the stage with cameras facing it.
- Library: Look on the blue sofa.
- Dressing or sports room: Check along the room’s edge.
Give the smaller rooms a full sweep before moving back into the hallway.
Sinister Supermarket
Check outside before searching the aisles:
- Near the plant and table outside the supermarket.
- Directly opposite that outdoor spot.
- On top of three wooden barrels near the start of the supermarket.
- On the steel rack in Aisle 1.
- At both ends of the produce room filled with bananas.
Look above floor level here: the barrel stack and shelving locations are easy to pass while watching for Banana.
Banana’s Backrooms
Check the first corner of the starting area, then search the tents.
Pet-door passages also contained pumpkins. One route started beside the “It Eats All” wall: follow the corridor, take two rights at its end, and enter the first pet door on the left. Another pumpkin was through the pet door to the right of the lobby.
Banana’s Bash Fun Centre
Search a table near the center of the map.
For another pumpkin, enter the “staff only” door, continue to the door at the far end, and check behind the barrels.
Banana Manor
Check the following landmarks:
- Beside the fireplace, on its right.
- On the sinktop in the witch’s room, where the large cauldrons are.
- Near the locker by the staircase, along the route toward the library.
- Inside the kids’ playroom near the staircase.
- Through the pet door left of spawn.
Garbage Graveyard
Search the open areas while moving through the map. Its three pumpkins were positioned in exposed spots, so scan across the area instead of focusing exclusively on rooms or containers.
Banana Pop Parlor
Check the storage area near the barrels, both open dining areas, and the kitchen. The dining areas held two pumpkins between them.
How to Keep the Hunt Moving

Choose Escape mode when you want to focus on searching. It puts one Banana in the round, giving you one pursuer to account for while checking rooms and passages.
Collect the lobby pumpkins early, then prioritize maps you have not searched. Since collected locations stayed cleared, repeating the same route would leave your counter unchanged.
Use 13 and 31 as your checkpoints. After earning the Rune, keep working toward the existing total rather than starting a separate 31-pumpkin hunt. If you re-entered the game between quests, the pumpkins collected for the Rune still counted toward the Key.
